Increasingly, American school systems are recognizing the value of school-based mentoring, as a tool for strengthening community investment in our schools, as a means for drop-out prevention, and as a way to help young people build relationships with a caring adult. School-based mentoring typically requires a commitment of one school year. VMP offers information sessions on starting a school-based mentoring program as well as training for school personnel, volunteers, and site coordinators.
