Community-based Mentoring

Mentoring programs that are community-based, allow mentors and mentees to meet outside a specific site, at a sporting event, coffee shop, or a park, for example. Community mentoring programs are often housed within a larger service provider such as Big Brothers Big Sisters or a Boys and Girls Club. VMP offers information sessions to organization staff and their governing boards on mentoring, and can provide mentor training to community volunteers. VMP also provides consultation on risk management in the transition from a site to community based program.
