What is SafetyNET?

SafetyNET is a federal pilot program designed to provide affordable FBI fingerprint background checks to mentoring programs across the country. SafetyNET was launched August 13, 2003 and will expire in 2009. August, 2006, Congress expanded SafetyNET to include Virginia. Mentoring programs must apply to MENTOR: The National Mentoring Partnership (who administers the program) in order to participate in this pilot initiative.
