We provide consultation on:
- Design and implementation of volunteer mentor & tutor programs
- “Nuts & Bolts of An Effective Mentoring Program”
- Screening & Background checks
- Program Evaluation
- Public Awareness
We raise public awareness for mentoring by:
- Sending e-newsletters to a client list of more than 1,000 members
- Serving as a state partner for National Mentoring Month media campaign
- Producing and promoting mentoring through Public Service Announcements on TV, radio, bus ads, internet, and print media
- Clearinghouse & Referrals
We act as a clearinghouse for incoming calls from:
- Individuals interested in becoming a mentor
- Individuals interested in finding a mentor for a child
- Groups interested in collaborating with existing mentoring programs
- Convener of the Mentoring Community
We galvanize the mentoring community by:
- Virginia Mentoring Advocacy Network (VMAN)
We coordinate a network of 450 individuals and 150 programs in an effort to:
- Prioritize the issues of concern for the mentoring field
- Develop a cohesive, effective public policy agenda
- Implement that agenda at the federal and state levels
