Our primary services include:

1. Training Services
   We provide twelve different types of trainings. Our 4 primary sessions are:
   
   • Orientation to Mentoring & Volunteering with Youth
   • Mentor Follow-Up & Support
   • Best Practices for Mentoring Program Operators
   • Tutor Training
   
   
2. Technical Assistance
   We provide consultation on:
   
   • Design and implementation of volunteer mentor & tutor programs
   • “Nuts & Bolts of An Effective Mentoring Program”
   • Screening & Background checks
   • Program Evaluation
   
   
3. Public Awareness
   We raise public awareness for mentoring by:
   
   • Sending e-newsletters to a client list of more than 1,000 members
   • Serving as a state partner for National Mentoring Month media campaign
   • Producing and promoting mentoring through Public Service Announcements on TV, radio, bus ads, internet, and print media
   
   
4. Clearinghouse & Referrals
   We act as a clearinghouse for incoming calls from:
   
   • Individuals interested in becoming a mentor
   • Individuals interested in finding a mentor for a child
   • Groups interested in collaborating with existing mentoring programs
   
   
5. Convener of the Mentoring Community
   We galvanize the mentoring community by:
   
   • Holding an annual awards event to celebrate quality mentoring
   • Offering educational workshops at a statewide conference or forum
   • Hosting Regional Training Institutes for program operators around the state
   
   
6. Virginia Mentoring Advocacy Network (VMAN)
   We coordinate a network of 450 individuals and 150 programs in an effort to:
   
   • Prioritize the issues of concern for the mentoring field
   • Develop a cohesive, effective public policy agenda
   • Implement that agenda at the federal and state levels
