About Us
Virginia Mentoring Partnership (VMP) is an independent, 501 (c) 3 organization founded in 1994 to provide training and technical assistance to mentoring programs around Virginia.
VMP was developed in partnership with Virginia Commonwealth University and MENTOR/The National Mentoring Partnership - a national nonprofit organization with a mission to expand the world of quality mentoring.
Since 1995, VMP has prepared more than 16,000 volunteers for their roles as mentors and tutors, and has provided services to more than 650 organizations in every region in the Commonwealth (primarily for free).
VMP provides customized training for an average of 1,335 mentor/tutor volunteers annually, along with follow-up support and orientation for mentees.
In addition, VMP has provided program support to school districts and individual schools that house school-based mentoring/tutoring programs. We estimates that these efforts have benefited more than 20,000 youth during the past decade.
